Breel Donald Embolo, better known as Breel Embolo, is a Swiss-Cameroonian professional footballer who plays as a forward or winger for French club Monaco and the Switzerland national team. Born on February 14, 1997, in Yaoundé, Cameroon, Embolo moved to Switzerland with his mother when he was five years old.
Breakthrough at FC Basel
Embolo's football career began with local clubs in Basel, Switzerland. In 2014, he joined the youth academy of FC Basel and quickly impressed with his skills and athleticism. Embolo made his professional debut for Basel in the 2014-15 season and soon became a regular in the starting lineup. He helped the club win three consecutive Swiss Super League titles from 2015 to 2017.
