Karen Read Murder Trial Continues

Day 22: Commonwealth Presents Case

The Commonwealth's case against Karen Read continues in the murder trial stemming from the January 2022 incident where Boston police officer John O'Keefe was struck by a car and left to die in a blizzard. Read is charged with running down O'Keefe and leaving him to die in the town of Canton on Jan. 18.

Witness Testimony

The prosecution called several witnesses to the stand on Day 22, including forensic experts and law enforcement officers who responded to the scene. The witnesses presented evidence that Read's blood-alcohol level was above the legal limit at the time of the incident and that she fled the scene after striking O'Keefe.

Defense Cross-Examination

The defense cross-examined the prosecution's witnesses, challenging the accuracy of their testimony and the conclusions they drew. The defense also presented its own witnesses, including a toxicologist who testified that Read's blood-alcohol level may have been lower than the prosecution claimed.

Judge's Ruling

The trial is ongoing, and the judge has yet to issue a ruling. The case is expected to continue for several more days, with both the prosecution and defense expected to present additional evidence and witnesses.
